SYNCHROMY ANNOUNCES A GENERAL CALL FOR SCORES FOR COMPOSERS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Synchromy is a composer-run presenter advancing the robust new music
community in Los Angeles through innovative concerts and events. While
we perform music by composers from all over the world, we like to keep
track of what our neighbors are up to as well. As such we are asking for
scores from composers whose main residence is in Los Angeles, Orange,
Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ventura
counties. These scores will be considered for future programming.
The Details
-
Non-student composers of any age and nationality are invited to
submit their scores and recordings (submissions with recordings
are preferred). This is not a call for composers still enrolled
in a degree program.
-
Synchromy encourages composers from all races, ethnicities,
gender identities, sexual orientations, and other backgrounds to
share their work with us.
-
Original compositions written in about the last decade
(unpublished or self-published). They may have been premiered or
not.
-
We are happy to see any scores, but are most likely to present
ensembles ranging from solo to small chamber orchestra sizes.
Electronics are fine. Works without traditional scores are
welcome.
-
We have a particular interest in scores that could be
successfully presented in an outdoor setting. We are also open
to proposals for outdoor collaborations in the coming
season.
-
Each composer may submit up to two works.
-
Recordings are strongly suggested, and MIDI
realizations are acceptable.
-
We only accept electronic submissions.
Monday, July 13th, 2020
Late submissions will be looked at as well, but possibly not immediately.
What to submit
-
This is not an anonymous call, please include your name and
contact information.
-
A one to two-page biographical document (resume, c.v., bio, etc)
to let us know a bit more about you (unless we’ve already
performed your work, in which case we probably already know
you).
-
A pdf of the score(s) and either an .mp3 or a link to a
recording that is permanently available online.
-
A note about the performance history of the score(s) in question.
-
Tell us what you most want to write next!
There is no fee to apply for this call. As this is not for a
specific concert, we will not be sending out a “results” email after
we go through these submissions. We will reach out to you if we have
an opportunity to collaborate with you.
We are excited to hear what you’re up to!
